Maddie may be leaving her daycare soon and there’s one teacher in particular whom we adore. She’s definitely Maddie’s favorite and I have to admit that I kind of love her, too. However, she’s not Maddie’s only teacher, or even the only teacher Maddie likes.

I’d like to get her teachers a little something to show how much I appreciate them taking such good care of my girl. However, I can’t really afford to do that and make the gifts worthwhile at all. Then I thought about just a little something for our favorite teacher, because to do nothing for her makes me feel crummy. BUT! I’m nervous that the other teachers will feel slighted… and they’d have every right to. Does this mean I ought not do anything for anyone since I can’t afford to give something to everyone? Or perhaps slip a little sumpthin’ sumpthin’ to our fave on the D.L.?

Or maybe I could make a bunch of yummy baked goods and take them up there for all the staff to enjoy? I’m totally on board with that because it’s relatively cheap, it will show I care enough to spend my time baking for them and it’s a way to include EVERYONE. Again, though, the nervousness is back because of all the negative comments I’ve read from teachers/other school staff on slamming gifts. It seems as though all that’s really appreciated is cold, hard gift cards and everything else is deemed a crappy gift. I don’t want to spend my time and HARD-EARNED money in order for someone to look down upon my gift, you know?

So, what do you think I ought to do?

Thank you all for the sympathetic comments. I wallowed in them for a full 24 hours. I’m fine now, so you can go back to your lurking/smart ass comments.

I still don’t know anything about The Stones Situation. The sonographer called in sick on Wednesday, so bad luck for me. The dr is sending me for an abdominal and pelvic sono tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that will yield some news. Some GOOD news. Not “omgIhavecancerandI’mgonnadie” news.

In a weird turn of events, my OB removed my Mirena IUD on Wednesday. He knew I was going to come back for the removal in a month or two and he said he’d just do it then and save me a trip and a co-pay. So, meanwhile I’m fertile. Or, I’m going to be soon. My husband is doing his best to make sure that his fertile parts stay FAR, FAR away from my fertile parts. Apparently, Maddie has killed his desire for a second child, too. I’m pretty sure he’s willing to move into his own place just to avoid “accidentally” impregnating me.

My car is at the car-fixer-place and I’ve got a rental. My insurance company only pays $25 a day on the rental and I’m cheap and I won’t pay extra for a nicer car. This means that I went from my pimpmobile with heated leather seats and power everything (EVEN THE DOORS ARE POWER!) to a car that’s one horse away from being an Amish buggy. Dude, it’s got roll-down windows. That you have to crank. Like with your arms and shit. Also, the door locks are manual push down things. I’m surprised I don’t have to wind it up to make it go. The upside is that it’s sure to get much better gas mileage than my pimpmobile. The car-fixer-guy says it’ll be at least a week before my car is ready.

There’s also been an improvement on the Maddie vs. Daycare front. Gerald dropped her off on Wednesday and there was no drama whatsoever. It seems Maddie drama queens that shit up for my benefit. Your kids do it to you, too, don’t they? Gah. They’re such little douche bags sometimes, aren’t they?

I took Maddie to get a haircut yesterday. She still has that fine, thin baby hair and it was driving us both nuts. Her “bangs” were down past her nose and I had to put them in a “hair fountain” ponytail every day just so she could see. I decided to just bite the bullet and get her some real bangs. She looks adorable! I’ll take a picture and post it later today.

Tomorrow’s Maddie’s Thanksgiving Feast at preschool. I get to go up and have lunch with her and her class.

She and I are leaving either Friday or Saturday to go down to my in-laws. We’ll stay through Thanksgiving, with Gerald flying down Wednesday afternoon. I’m really looking forward to it. The family hasn’t spent much time with Maddie since August and she’s already changed so much. Her language has exploded and her “pretend” play has skyrocketed. She’s just so much fun these days.

Remember how I bought clothes as a normal store? Well, I got a sweater, tank and jeans at Old Navy. I wore the outfit for the first time on Sunday and managed to put a big ole hole in the thigh of my jeans. Since I’m only going to be able to wear them for a month or two, there was no sense in replacing them. Instead, I got some patches at the fabric store and patched the hole. I used butterfly patches and put a few more on the jeans to try and make them look like it was intentional. It looks like ass, but whatev. I wore them yesterday and no one pointed and laughed, so I’m calling it “good enough.”

I realize that this is possibly the most pathetic post ever written, but it’s all I’ve got. Take it or leave it, you judgmental bastards.

Maddie’s first day of preschool came with an unexpected gift… a cold. She came down with it on Saturday and the last three days have been filled with snot, fevers, crying and more snot. Did I mention the snot? Oh sweet jeebus, it’s EVERYWHERE. And my child is not keen on sitting still long enough to be de-snotified or to have her nose sucked out. Which, by the way, is so very, very disgusting.

Meanwhile, I’ve come down with it, too. I don’t know if I’m just being a baby or if my post-op immune system is extra fragile, but I’m a pathetic mess. I need to drag myself to the pharmacy for copious amounts of otc cold remedies. The only problem with that is the “getting out of my jammies and leaving the house” part.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. I got my hair cut this weekend and I got yet another new style. This one’s kind of a punkish-pixie. I wanted something new and my only choice was to go shorter. I absolutely love it. There will be pictures posted once I no longer feel like a pathetic mess. Meanwhile, pray to the gods of kleenex and nyquil that we feel better soon. kthanx!
