Are up.

Five Months Post-Op

December 22nd, 2008

*Pics are here*

Yesterday was five months since my gastric bypass. Stats are as follows:
Weight – 220
Pounds lost – 80
Size – 16/18
Bra size – 40DDD (I’ve lost FOUR band sizes and NO cup sizes. WTF is that about? Also, the boobies are starting to look like tube socks with a tennis ball in the end.)

I’m feeling really good these days. I’m taking my supplements regularly, but still not getting enough protein. I don’t have a good reason for this, either.

I’ve cancelled my gym membership because I wasn’t going. Instead, I’m jumping on the 30 Day Shred bandwagon. I picked up the video last night and watched the level one workout. Jebus. I was tired after just watching it. I have a feeling that it’s going to totally kick my ass. Which is EXACTLY what I need. I don’t just want to be skinny. I want to be strong and fit.

An interesting evening

December 16th, 2008

Last night, about 7:30 I was in the bedroom soaking my toes and I heard a loud clap of thunder. It was sleeting here, so it didn’t seem that odd. Gerald came bustling into the bedroom and asked if I heard that. I replied that I thought it was thunder. Apparently, it was MUCH louder at the front of the house and he assured me that it wasn’t thunder. His guess was that someone took out the fence.

We’re the first house in our neighborhood and one side of our property is fenced with a “decorative” brick fence. The intersection of our street and the larger road we live off of is a prime accident location. We’ve been waiting for five years for someone to hit the brick fence. Last night, it was in the 20s and sleeting and well… this happened.

Luckily, neither the driver nor his wife were hurt at all. Gerald went outside and offered help and then for the next couple of hours our house was Accident Central. We hosted the accident victim, a very nice man named Cecil, the police officer who came over twice and the wrecker. This morning, we got to visit with the president of our HOA. All in all, it was very exciting. For Gerald and I, at any rate. Maddie? She slept through the entire thing.

Blatantly Obvious

December 3rd, 2008

We took our 2008 family Christmas photos last night. I’ve done some high-tech editing (read: slapped that shit together in Paint) and created a side-by-side comparison with last year’s photo. In last year’s photo, I’m wearing a size 28 jean and a 26/28 sweater. In this year’s photo, I’m wearing a size 18 jean and a 16/18 sweater.

This is what losing 75 pounds looks like:

Say it with me… “WOW.”

p.s. If you’re interested, there are more Christmas pics here.

All right already, Shelly!

Without further ado, I give you Roxy The Wonder Dog! She’s half scotty, half yorkie. She’s adorable, playful, sweet and all ours! YAY!

For scale purposes, that is my hand. Not some giant robotic hand. She’s 3.7 lbs of pure sweetness.

Roxy says “bleh.”

This is her favorite spot. (Sorry about the backlighting.)

Failed photo shoot

November 20th, 2008

All right, all right! Here are your pictures of the new bangs.

First of all, this is post-nap hair, so it’s a little bed-heady. Secondly, um, Maddie wasn’t feeling particularly photogenic this afternoon. She looks kind of drunk, doesn’t she? Honestly, it’s the flash on my camera that blinds her right before each picture. I guess I need to read the Nikon book and see what to do about that.

Pumpkin Patch

October 26th, 2008

We took Maddie to the Dallas Arboretum on Friday and let her play in the pumpkin patch. Pics are up at Flickr.

Make over goodness

June 18th, 2008

Here’s a pic from my phone. It doesn’t accurately capture the amount of eye make-up I had on. It took FOUR make-up remover wipes to get it off. And the eyeliner is winged out on the sides of my eyes like Amy Winehouse. Srsly.

Look who’s crafty all of the sudden!

May 6th, 2008

I was at Hobby Lobby last week, just sort of browsing around, and I found the cutest letters on sale for 50% off. I got those, some paint and some little wooden doodads and hauled ass to get home.

Here’s what I made:

Yeah, I forgot to take a picture before I started painting, because I was all excited and in a hurry. So, I took a picture of the back of the letter. You can see they were originally white and they have cool little slots that allow them to be hung with pushpins.

Here they are, all painted. And yes, that is a Christmas tablecloth.

Here they are with the wooden doodads placed before I glued them on.

This is the finished project, hung on Maddie’s wall. She loves it and asks to touch the letters every night before bed. I think I’m going to make them as baby shower gifts for friends. You know, to go along with all the practical stuff I give, like burp cloths and butt paste.
