Hi, I’m Erica.
I’m married to Gerald and we have one daughter named Maddie. We’ve been married since 2004, and Maddie was born in 2007. I’m currently pregnant with Baby #2. We have a small, yappy-type dog named Roxy, a Dalmatian Rex rabbit named Baxter and Satan’s cat, whom we call Puss. We live in North Texas and I hate it like poison. We hope to relocate to the Pacific Northwest ASAFP. However, don’t hold your breath on that, k?
I used to work in the corporate world as a stockbroker Professional Tool, but I quit that gig once Maddie came along. The mom-as-a-career thing is a pretty crap job, but the perks are fantastic. I bitch and moan about it nonstop, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. My daughter is the prettiest, smartest, most well-mannered child on the face of the planet. Oh, except for your kids, of course. My kid is now almost three and I’m pretty convinced that she’s possessed by the devil. I recently went back to work to save both money and sanity. Now I gripe about how much daycare costs and the horrible habits my kid’s learning from “those bratty kids.”
Now listen up, because this is VERY IMPORTANT. This blog is a major source of venting for me. I complain like mad and call my kid things like “douchebag” and sometimes even “asshole.” Because, let’s face it, sometimes she’s a douchebag and an asshole. She’s also the most wonderful thing to ever happen to me… second only to marrying Gerald. I think my girl Swistle puts it best; “I acknowledge my luckiness, without giving up my claim to the suckiness.”

I am sorry you’re not in love with North Texas; of course i don’t know how far “north” you are. I am in east texas and it’s wonderful here. But i can’t blame you if you want to be in the northwest; my folks lived on mercer Island in washington state many years ago; it was a gorgeous place and they felt like they were on vacation the entire time they were there!

hey erica…my sister told me i had to read your blog for a couple of reasons. first off, we have the SAME DAMN HAIR CUT! i kid you not. don’t ya love it! secondly, we had the same surgery within a couple of months of one another… mine was march 19, 2008. i’m also a fellow texan, have been all my life, and am desperately wanting to get to the seattle area to “retire”. love the honesty of the blog and the things you mention that only other people like “us” can get. btw, the family under the covers playing and daddy being the bear story? yeah, i about pissed myself laughing. thanks for that one!
Oh yeah.. duh! where did you have your surgery done? how ya feeling and all that? do you have any problems?
