OCM Update: Week 2
You guys, I am loving the OCM and its results. My skin has honestly never looked better. No blackheads, zits or dryness. NONE. I still have a little redness under my nose from the Herp Lip, but it’s fading quickly.
I took this outside in full sun this morning. No makeup on whatsoever. Except Burt’s Bees lip balm because I am never without it. And I proceeded to go out in public like this, too. Just to Walmart, but still.
Look, we all know this is a shitty picture. The sun was so bright I couldn’t even open my eyes and it’s a self-portrait with my phone. BUT LOOK AT MY SKIN. It’s smooth, not blotchy and even a little glowy.
If you’re considering the OCM, I wholeheartedly urge you to do it. It’s cheap, easy and unbelievably worthwhile.
**UPDATE**
SamCam asked in the comments if I’d go over what my OCM process is. Of course I will!
I have oily t-zone and dry cheeks and I’m prone to monthly hormone-related zits. I stuck with the original suggestion I read of using Castor oil and EVOO in thirds. I use a three ounce flip-top bottle and I made a batch in nine parts; Six tablespoons Castor oil, three tablespoons EVOO and 1/4 teaspoon of tea tree oil. This has been perfect for my skin. I’ve only had to use the mixture as “moisturizer” once.
I started out doing the OCM at night but that got to be a pain in my butt. Now, I do it before I get into the shower. I just take a washcloth in with me to wipe off the oil. Easy peasy. I do it three times a week and my skin doesn’t get oily or dirty feeling in between at all. If I need to take off eye makeup, I use a makeup remover wipe only on my eyes. On the days I don’t OCM, I just rinse my face well in the shower. I haven’t needed to exfoliate or use any other kind of product since I started two weeks ago.

You are seriously making me think about it. Can you go over your process and the % of oils you use etc? SELL ME ON IT, BABY.
I was just writing up my own post about this.
You are gorgeous!!
Erica, your skin looks fabulous. You totally have me considering this. It freaks me out a bit but I would love to have my skin look like your’s without makeup.
So, now that you do it in the morning, do you just wash with water at night if you wear makeup during the day? I wear makeup every day because I’m too scared not to, so I have to OCM at night.
I’ve been doing it for a week, and the blackheads on my nose are disappearing like crazy. I did actually use one of those pore strips the other day, and it got SO MUCH GUNK out of my nose pores, I think because the OCM has loosened it all up enough to actually come out.
Because my T-zone is SO oily, I have to do something in the morning, too, to wash my face — after some Googling, I decided to try plain, pure clover honey. Seems to be working well for me. And smells better than my oil concoction
Erin- I wear Bare Minerals when I wear makeup, and only as concealer, not foundation. I don’t take it off at night at all. I figure it’s not bad for my skin.
I use honey to moisturize the rest of my body in the shower after washing. I love it!
Your skin looks great! How do you think this would work for someone with relatively clear skin? My skin is dry, but I’m definitely not prone to breakouts.
Elsha – I would skip the tea tree oil completely, if you’re not prone to breakouts. And adjust your Castor oil to EVOO ratio toward the dry skin side of things. (More EVOO, less Castor.) I think it would be great for you!
I use Bare Minerals too, and you’re probably right that it’s not a big deal to sleep in it. I use it as foundation though … although if I do the OCM long enough maybe I can stop that!
Now, if only there was a magic OCM-ish treatment for under-eye circles…
It is working SO WELL for you! I am supremely supremely jealous. Maybe I just need to play with my percentages better. I just really need a moisturizer for sheer comfort, especially in the winter with all the dry heat. Maybe I am not letting it set on my face long enough?
I am blown away. Your skin looks amazing. I’m still firmly on the fence for some reason, despite the fact that so many people are loving it!
You look FABULOUS!
I wear full make up..and totally sleep in it. I am assuming this is bad?
I have rosecea. Need to google what my percentage of each would be right?
