Fun Fact Friday!

August 7th, 2009

* I absolutely loathe wintergreen. Just the smell makes me sick. You’d be surprised how many toothpastes are wintergreen instead of mint. To be absolutely sure that I don’t accidentally purchase vomit-inducing wintergreen, I buy crazy toothpastes. The most recent is children’s strawberry with extra fluoride. It tastes like ass, but at least it doesn’t try to kill me with it’s wintergreenness. *shudder*

* Today is my last day of training at The Restaurant. Tomorrow I’ll be on my own and taking home my hard-earned tips instead of giving them all to my trainer. Gah. That makes me feel like a hooker turning over cash to her pimp.

* My kid wants to watch Thomas and Friends every waking moment of every day. We don’t, of course, but I end up seeing WAY more Thomas than I care to. I can’t get over what a douchebag Gordon is. I mean, really? You’re a fucking train. What’s there to be so stuck up about?

* I’ve tried really hard to like Kings of Leon but I just don’t. Maybe I’m not cool enough.

* Maddie likes for me to sing the Mail Song from Blue’s Clues every time we get the mail together. The ridiculous thing is that I sing it to myself when I’m ALONE and getting the mail.

* The horrible loose skin on my upper arms is bothering me more and more as each day passes. I’m *this close* to slathering on some Anbesol and hacking it off in the garage. DIY plastic surgery at it’s finest.

I’m the opposite – I HATE mint flavouring and insist upon wintergreen. Ideally, I choose cinnamon over all others, but in a pinch will cope with wintergreen. Spearmint though? Forget it.

Randomly, I’ve just checked out your new tattoo. It’s gorgeous!

How strange. I don’t even notice the difference between mint and wintergreen. Or maybe I’m the strange one.

That Blue’s Clues Mail Song is so catchy that sometimes I still find myself humming it from when my little brother used to watch it. My little brother is now 18. That should tell you something – it’s a damn catchy tune.

I discovered Kings of Leon years ago and played their song “Four Kicks” to death while singing it loudly. But it’s a whole different style than what they have today, although I like their current stuff.

And I hate my underarms too, I thought I was looking rather fetching today, then I caught the wide swath of hanging skin flapping back and forth in a mirror and thought….ew….

My hair turned out well, though. Today at least. Thank god for small favors!

    Wintergreen is NASTY!

I LOVE the mail song from Blue’s Clues. I sing it at top volume quite often. Just one more reason we’re fated to be friends.

I also do not like minty toothpaste, though it doesn’t make me sick. I love Crest’s cinnamon variety and will use no other. My kid just switched from toddler toothpaste to the real stuff with fluoride and the only kind she will tolerate is either strawberry or watermelon.

As a former waitress/server/bartender I always thought it was bullshit that trainees had to give their tips to the trainer. You did the work. You should keep the tips. Effers.

Of course my son loved Blues clues birthday and we watched it all the time…so at birthdays we always sing…Present time, present time…open the present and see what’s inside!

Of course, he’s 11 now. ~sigh~ we still sing it.

    Flappy arms? I haz them!

    My favorite is Cinnamon toothpaste.

I don’t even know what Kings of Leon is either. Now I must go google it.

    Thank you for hating Thomass.

I don’t understand why that is supposed to be a good show for kids. My kid is a holy terror after watching that. All he talks about is pulling pranks and crashing off bridges.

I also hate wintergreen, and my kid also wants to watch Thomas all day every day. I don’t *hate* it, but I’m not wild about it either. And there are far too many times that I realize, inadvertently, that the Thomas theme song is stuck in my head. Like now. Yikes.
