Funny, I’ve never seen your blog but just happened to stumble upon it today. Guess what happened to me yesterday here at work? After four years of working my way up, graduating from college at age 47 so I would never have to work the phones again because I hate the phones. Well beginning on August 3, because of downsizing, etc. I BACK ON THE PHONES!!! Did I mention, I HATE THE PHONES! The difference is that I’m here in Michigan, work in Automotive Engineering and there are no other jobs out there. So, I have to be a good girl, bite my tongue and answer the phones with a smile. Now at age 54, I feel I’ve paid my dues, so I am certainly all too familer with the “Slap In The Face”. The other thing that really bugs me about it, is that now I’m pretty much on the bottom. So the next round of cut backs, guess who’ll be next. Sorry for venting on your blog, when we’ve never been properly introduced. But after reading your story, I knew you’d understand.

It sounds like you’ve made the right career move for you at this moment. Good for you for doing what you needed to do.

Oh, parties where you have nothing to lose are the BEST! Glad you had an awesome time! And btw, I think switching from stockbroking (?) to waitressing sounds fabulous. Go you! Life’s too short to toil away at a job you truly hate. And if waiting tables is fun, wait those tables!
