Mufasa, is that you?
July 10th, 2009
We got a packet of crafty-type things from Maddie’s daycare last week. After dinner, we went through them all as a family and “oohed and aahed” over Maddie’s artistic skills. (Which are virtually non-existent in the manner of most 2.5 year olds, fyi.) Anyhow, when we got to this picture, I knew I had to share it with you.
Tell me, internets, WTF is this about?

**sniff sniff** Not Simba!
Seriously, if the words weren’t there I’d give it the benefit of the doubt. But when it says “DEAD LION”? How can that be explained?
I just can’t think of any context where that works.
I am BOGGLED @ this!??
WTH?!
Very very strange. Wowwww.
OMFG. Really??
YES. I’m thinking of a career change to become a daycare provider JUST so I can come up with shit like this.
Dead lion? DEAD…LION? And they put…GLITTER on him? Whuh?
seriously?!!? Did they teach Maddie & all her classmates how to make the perfect “x” over their eyes as well to really complete the look.
Baaaa haha ha haaaaaa!
I swear, I thought you faked that. That? Is some CRAZY SHIT.
I can’t fake something of that brilliance. That shit is CRAZY.
Unless it’s from a coloring book about poachers in Africa….well I just have no idea.
Does Maddie even know what “dead” is?
This is nuts!
I kind of want to google “dead lion children stories” now
Also, sorry about the hangover (I’m not officially on Twitter anymore, but I lurk now and then just to see what everyone is up to). They definitely get worse and easier to come by as the years pass.
okay, so I did google it. Is it a Christian preschool? There is lots of stuff about Samson and a dead lion.
Still.
Gah.
I don’t know whether to laugh or be upset. CRAZY! Unless it has to do with a story of Daniel from the Bible. But, even then… A DEAD lion COLORING PAGE for a PRESCHOOLER??? LOVE the happy glitter, though.
Seriously…that is hands down the most disturbing art project, done by a 2 and a half year old, I’ve ever seen. Wow. Perhaps you should consider offering that preschool teacher some counselors’ numbers or an all expense paid trip to a sensitivity class put on by PETA. RAWR.
Dude – I laughed so hard – in fact, I am STILL laughing as I type this. Found you via Ree’s site – nice pic she posted by the way. And really, a dead Mufasa as a crafts project – there’s one for the record books! I can just imagine my son’s face if he was presented that as a project – OUCH!
Very scary! What preschool is giving toddlers pix of a dead lion?
Lora may be right, Samson did slay a lion, but still . . . why would you have kids color this?
Not right!!!
just found you a la PW- I’m waaay behind. But I have to tell you, this picture got me. I’m a loyal fan now. It’s been a rough day and I’m cracking up. thanks!
