For the love of pete!

January 2nd, 2009

I am the proud owner of a “gallbladder full of stones,” according to my surgeon. I’m passed the point of medication to dissolve them and now require surgery. Woo-frickin-hoo.

Unfortunately, the surgery scheduler had emergency surgery yesterday to… wait for it…  remove her gallbladder! Therefore, I can’t schedule my surgery until Monday morning. He wants me to have the first available surgery, so probably early in the week.

Please leave me sympathetic comments. Also, mail me care packages full of fun things. Please forward them to Shelly’s house, because I’m totally going there to recuperate. She volunteered to watch my kid while her husband and I lie around on the couch whining and fighting over the TV remote.

    Holy CRAP! :(

Erica, I’m SO SO sorry! Did they give you good drugs at least? And what is the deal with gallbladders lately? I know so many people having problems with them right now and either getting surgery or taking meds.

Good news is, everyone seems to recover just fine without the gallbladder, whew!

    Ah kiddo….{{{{hugs again}}}}

Okay, I’m not on my regular computer right now (because my boss got me a new one and the files are being transferred now from my old one that has all my stuff) but I’m so TOTALLY sending you some funny shiat to cheer you up once I get my paws on my own stuff n like dat. :)

Wow, you really know how to start the new year off with a bang…don’t you!

    Sorry about this….totally sucks!

Here’s the remote, a comfy blankie and warm slippers for your feet. Can I send you a bell, so you can ring when you need something?

    HUGS!

Oh no! Hopefully this will be the last medical procedure you’ll have to endure for a long time.

    Ah man. Suck.

Is there some gall bladder epidemic that I was unaware of?

C’mon over. Your room is ready.

& we can re-watch Buffy while you recover. Or start on Angel.

Well, at least you’ve *really* taken care of that deductible early, right? You also didn’t have to find out about your gall bladder while on vacation like my mom. Nothing says fun in San Francisco like going to an ER.

I heard from my mom that the surgery is a cinch, and you’ll feel better quickly. However, you can’t eat any of the stuff well, that you already aren’t eating.

What does the gallbladder DO anyway? JEEZ.

Sorry to hear you have to have another surgery. Hope its fast and there are tons of good shows on TV.

No way should you have to have more surgery! Sucko. I hope your recoup goes well.

Oh, man, I also had a gall bladder full of stones, for like YEARS- thought I had a chronic backache. Had that bitch removed and have felt great since. They showed me pictures of it and it was FULL of stones. How did I live like that for so long???

Anyway, the worst part of the surgery for me was that I had extreme naseua (I’ll learn to spell that word this year, I swear) for about 12 hours afterward. I always have this problem with anesthesia, however. Once that subsided, the healing went quickly. The day after getting home from the hospital, I did the MS walk- slowly, but I felt great.

So, my sincere sympathies, and my hopes that you feel as great afterward as I did.

Also, for some mysterious reason, my reader has not been updating me when you post, so I am way, WAY behind… I’ll catch up, and I’ve re-added your blog, so hopefully you’ll hear more from me from here on out.

    Good luck!

Feel better soon. Hope the rest of the new year goes better.

Aw Erica, that *does* suck and you have all my sympathy!! I have to confess, you made me laugh when you mentioned the surgery scheduler was having emergency surgery for her gallbladder, though…what a weird coincidence!

I hope 2009 just gets better for you in huge increments from here and your recovery is swift!

I had my gallbladder out almost 10 years ago now (WOW!) and it really wasn’t too bad. Just the first hour or so I was in pain where my gallbladder had been but the rest was easily manageable.

I am sorry you are starting out the new year this way. Maybe you should have them take your appendics out while they are in there just in case it decides to act up later this year. ;)

Ugh! No fair! I hope it goes quickly and smoothly.

  16. My Buddy Mimi on January 6, 2009 11:07 am

Oh, ouch! On a very slightly positive note… If something else turns up you will have already surpassed your insurance deductible.

Good Dr. you have, diagnosing you over the phone. Awww. That really sucks, though, dude. REally.

I had mine taken out October 1 2008. I have 2 tiny tiny scars ont he right side of my bellya nd one inside my belly button. I was back to work 4 days later. Compared to the gastric bypass surgery, this was a hoot and trust me when I say this … I felt SO much better afterwards!
