It’s amazing what a satisfying bathroom experience can do for your mood.

July 24th, 2008

I turned a corner today. I’m off the hardcore pain meds and on liquid Tylenol. I’ve, um, expelled quite a bit of gas so the shoulder pain is gone. I was able to drink two whole ounces of a protein shake for lunch, and plan to have more for dinner.

I no longer feel like death is imminent. I’m still feeling pretty rough around the edges, but it’s more like coming off the worst stomach virus/food poisoning you can imagine.  Just kind of puny still.

I’m still not convinced that I made the right choice. I guess only time will tell. I’ve got to relearn how my body works. Things I’ve done for 32 years aren’t possible anymore… that’s kind of a big kick in the face, you know?

Sorry I haven’t commented before but I’ve been out of town. I did check your site religiously to make sure you were okay, though.

I’m sorry it’s rough. Really, really sorry. I know nothing about GBS other than what I read from Robyn at Bitchypoo.

I hope you improve soon and the new you isn’t so painful to bear.

Oh, I also hope you continue to expel gas like a frat boy b/c that just cracks me up. Teach Maddie a thing or two about how to impress the boys while you’re at it.

Yeah, this is definitely going to be a difficult adjustment for you. But I still think it will be worth it in the end.

Also, nothing sucks harder than the first few days after surgery, any surgery. I’m so glad that my own surgery has become a distant memory. By which I mean, it was three weeks ago. And a lot more minor than yours.

    For sure time will tell.

And you’re right about re-learning. It is a massive change that you’re dealing with and re-learning is the key.

So glad to hear you are turning a corner.

Here’s hoping your tomorrows get rosier and rosier.

Glad you’re starting to feel better. That would suck! BUT this will get better. Just think of it as learning a new job. Your new job is to be as healthy as you can. Yes, it will be hard to make everything habits, but it will come. You’re doing great so far. :D
