In a nutshell

* Today is Maddie’s appointment with the pediatric opthamologist. I still think it’s entirely moot and will be 2.5 hours of sheer hell for all parties involved.

* Tomorrow is my last doctor’s appt for my WLS pre-certification requirement. I dreamt last night that I had the surgery and died on the operating table.

* I have entirely too many hair products. Most of them expensive salon stuff. I also have too many Bath & Body Works products. I’m going to have a “contest” and give 99% of them away.

* My MIL bought me that chocolate I was thinking about getting for my birthday. Could she be any sweeter? No. No, she could not.

* I’m reading the new David Sedaris book.

* We’ve just started season six of Buffy and I’m already sad that we’re getting close to the end.

* Maddie called me “Nana” this morning. Apparently, I’m not aging as well as I’d hoped.

* I’m going to do (I’m not sure if we’re walking or running) a half-marathon in December. That’s 13 miles. Without a car. (I checked. No cars allowed.)

* Gerald and I have been looking at houses. I have no idea if we’re going to move, but we’re looking.

The End

  1. This is all good stuff. BUT.

HOW IS THE NEW DAVID SEDARIS? Oh, if it sucks don’t tell me. I will be DEVASTATED.

  2. I ordered the new Sedaris - I’m hoping it will be waiting on my doorstep when I get home tonight - and I am going to see him when he comes to town this fall. I can’t wait!

  3. Mimi pointed out that M has “boobs” too (note–he does NOT). Guess who has a weight/body image issue at our house now…

  4. Yummmm……chocolate.

And I LOVE David Sedaris. I cannot wait to read his new one.

  5. I would have checked to see if cars were allowed too.

  6. If you’re moving, might I suggest Tessie’s neighborhood. They have all kinds of good shit there. :)

  7. Good luck on your marathon! I end up either renovating or painting something in our house every time I have an urge to move.

  8. Oh my goodness, being in the UK suuuuucks sometimes - I had no idea there was a new Sedaris book! Ack!

  9. Dave Sedaris rules. The end.

  10. OH - and yay on the half-marathon. I’m running in November, so we can be online training buddies!!!

  11. 1. i came here to give you crap about your blovation. it was starting to bug me. i am quite relieved.
    and
    2. mopeds are not cars. those razor push thingies are not cars. and as a last resort….will gerald consider pulling you along in a radio flyer wagon? after all…that is ALSO not a car.

  12. I like the way lady godiva thinks… along those same lines, Segways are also not cars, but could you take looking like a douchebag for 13 miles?

I’ll be in training with you & mom of the year - I have a goal to walk home from work at least once this summer. It’s somewhere around 8 miles, so not quite a half-marathon, but there are a couple sections of the trip I’ll definitely be racing through.

  13. OH I just ordered the Sedaris book for Father’s Day and I totally plan on reading the whole thing before I wrap it! (is that bad?)

I’m sorry to say that even though I LOVE contests I won’t be competing for your hair products, I’ve got a glut of my own. OOh, but maybe yours are better……

Congrats on the half marathon. Goals are good! (so are scooters, though)

  14. Love Sedaris! You must review the book when you’re done.

    How was Maddie’s appointment?

  15. I guess I’ll have to keep reading your newer blog posts to see if you tell about how Maddie’s and your appointments went. That’s a scary dream!

I always keep too many products around too, but in the last year or so I’ve gotten better about clearing things out.

Good luck on the half-marathon. I’m sure we’ll hear more updates in time.

    Houses? Wow, keep us posted.

  16. I know, I have like this huge heavy drawer-full of stuff, plus several shelves, plus I keep throwing things out. It’s a problem.

By the end of season 7 I was getting less sad about it ending, and more like “Okay, let’s get it over with.”
