Unfortunate Milestone Reached

Maddie can open doors, now. We have those lever door handles and she’s just tall enough to grab them if she stands on her tiptoes and really reaches. I actually had to put a childproof thingy on the INSIDE of the door in her room. When we go in there to play, I close the door and she does her thing. But now that she can open the door, she just sort of wanders out whenever she feels like it. Usually, she makes a beeline straight for the dogs’ food or water. Not cool at all.

Also, she does say “HI!” in the correct context now. And very sweetly, I might add. So, that’s a mark in the “plus” column.

  1. Luckily we only have ONE door with those lever deals on them or AD would probably have run away from home long ago. How do you childproof those, anyway?

  2. Also, you TWITTER NOW? How long has THAT been going on? What have I missed?

  3. Love the lever door handles because I can open them with my behind when my hands are full. But then I love the round ones because they are harder for kids to open. Of course the only doors we have with the lever handles are the ones to the outside, which is oh so convenient when Mimi wants to escape.

  4. We have those childproof handles on all of the bedroom and bathroom doors. Whenever anyone comes over I have a great time watching them try to figure out how to open a door.

  5. Tessie - I only started Twittering a few days ago. I don’t even know why. It’s not like anyone cares what the hell I’m doing.

  6. Oh boy, gotta love those door handles. We don’t have any here, but he figured them out at a young age at my parents’ house. Just wait until she can reach the light switches. Boy, that’s fun!
