Thank You

Erica - there are no words that can express the love I feel for you. How proud I was when you cut your first tooth and took your first steps. You are a beautiful baby and you are very alert and active - you make my days full. Years from now you’ll think all of the things you did were silly and your mom’s silly for being so sentimental. Only the birth of your baby will make you understand the way your mother feels now.

Mom - You were absolutely right. I had no idea how much you loved me until my own daughter was born. I gushed over her first tooth and her first steps and you weren’t there to see it. I wish you could see your granddaughter. She’s a little spitfire just like I was. She plays “stinky feet” and likes to pull up people’s shirts to find their belly buttons. I can imagine you watching her and telling me how I did the very same things when I was her age.
I miss you so much, mom. When the person who loves you most in the whole world is gone, there’s a void that can never be filled. I know that you’re with our Heavenly Father and have no earthly concerns, but I do hope you’re allowed to peek in on us every now and then. I hope you’re proud of the woman I became and the mother that I am. I hope you know that I think you were a wonderful mother and I always felt loved.
I will tell Maddie stories about you and show her your picture and your legacy will live on. You’ll never really be gone, mom. Not in my heart.
I love you as big as the sky the last number of times.
Erica

What a lovely tribute to your mom! I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day with lots of hugs and kisses from your little spitfire.
Ooooh, I’m a little weepy now. I can’t imagine how bittersweet this day must be for you. Joyous in being able to celebrate it with your own little spitfire, yet heartbreaking that your mom isn’t able to be there with you physically. Big hugs for you!!
Happy Mother’s Day, Happy Anniversary, and Happy Birthday from us, love you!
wow.
Oh, I’m all teary now… Your mother sounds so sweet. And what a great picture! Wow.
What a lovely tribute to a wonderful person!
I was once told that our parents are never really gone, there is a part of them that lives in us forever. We pass on all good parts to our children and so on….
I just know that’s true!
HUGS!

Oh, there’s your mama! I’m so glad you posted a picture.
This is just so heartbreaking on one hand, but on the other it’s so great that you have that note. Makes me want to write more notes to MY daughter.
I hope you had a great Mothers Day.
This post is so sweet. It is so nice that you have that note from your mother. And of course she is proud of you–how could she not be?
I’m crying.
I miss my mom, too.

I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose your mom. I hope my day for that is VERY far away.
Thank you for sharing with us. This post was really beautiful.
that is so sweet. I wish I wrote more to my kids but I guess I can start now. I wish my mother had done something like that. You are very lucky! That’s great!
Beautiful! It will make me remember to treasure my own mother a little more now.
