Look who’s crafty all of the sudden!

I was at Hobby Lobby last week, just sort of browsing around, and I found the cutest letters on sale for 50% off. I got those, some paint and some little wooden doodads and hauled ass to get home.

Here’s what I made:

Yeah, I forgot to take a picture before I started painting, because I was all excited and in a hurry. So, I took a picture of the back of the letter. You can see they were originally white and they have cool little slots that allow them to be hung with pushpins.

Here they are, all painted. And yes, that is a Christmas tablecloth.

Here they are with the wooden doodads placed before I glued them on.

This is the finished project, hung on Maddie’s wall. She loves it and asks to touch the letters every night before bed. I think I’m going to make them as baby shower gifts for friends. You know, to go along with all the practical stuff I give, like burp cloths and butt paste.

  1. Is Maddie her real name? I had assumed it was a pseudonym or short for Madeline or Madison.

  2. Her name is Madeleine, but she’s always been Maddie. The letters where just too big to spell out “Madeleine” in the space available on her wall.

My MIL made her some beautiful smaller letters that spell out her full name, so I’ll change them out every so often.

  3. I’m not usually a fan of the letters but these really rock. Did you paint the stick on things, too? Now I want some. I’m such a follower!

  4. Wow, I am humbled. I just bought a regular old white A and hung it on Addy’s wall! I = not crafty.

  5. Sarah - ME NEITHER! That’s why I’m so proud of these. Literally, all I did was paint them and glue those doodads on. THAT’S IT. And it cost me all of $25. And I bought way too much paint, so it would have been even less than that had I known what I was doing.

  6. Shelly - I would totally make them for Parker and send them to you.

  7. How adorable! I’m so jealous of your craftiness!

  8. I LOVE these letters. I agree I am usually not a fan of the name letters thing but these are so totally awesome! You did a beautiful job!

  9. Oh MY GOD! You are totally leaving the rest of us in motherhood dust as you whiz by. I love this project. SO CUTE!

  10. Ooo, the font of those letters is even cuter than how I was picturing it. So awesome.

  11. Too cute! Good job!

  12. They look FANTASTIC! I did something similar, but painted the letters white (they weren’t already) and stuck on wooden ladybugs. I love them. Right now I have unfinished wooden coat hooks shaped like flowers and butterflies to paint and hang in the kids’ rooms for towels and robes and stuff. Who knows when I’ll get to them, but this makes me want to hurry up.
