One prescription for antibiotics for me. (She said I’d most likely get strep throat, so she’d save me a visit to my doctor by giving me a script to fill if I needed it.)
100 bonus awarded to pediatrician for the above act.
I’m not sure what to make of this Wonky Eye Check Up business. I have never talked to the pediatrician about the Wonky Eye. She happened to notice it today and asked me about it. Her concern was that Maddie still hasn’t outgrown it, so we’re going to get it checked out to be on the safe side. I know I used to be super anxious about the Wonky Eye, but I’ve gotten completely over it. It’s much less noticeable than it used to be and Maddie seems to see just fine. Now, I’m a little worried that it’s something and I should have had it checked out earlier.
The one constant about parenting? Always feeling like you’ve made the wrong decision.

Your pediatrician wrote you a scrip? That’s fantastic! I wonder if mine would, but since I’m always the one to come down with strep first, I’ve already gone to my doc by the time we get to the pediatrician. Hope Maddie is better soon!
I didn’t even know there WAS such a thing as a pediatric opthamologist! Wonky Eye must be common if there’s an entire CATEGORY.
BR demanded that we all get antibiotic prescriptions when AD had strep. That’s one thing he’s good for. Demanding shit.
Seriously, did we cross paths or something? Liam is currently on antibiotics for double ear infection and strep, too. Although, our pedi didn’t give me a script. Hmmm……
Hope she feels better soon!
Must be fun at your house!
Did you talk about soy milk?
We have been to a pediatric opthamologist too, due to a wonky tear duct. One of the advantages was sitting in the waiting room and seeing kids with even wonkier eyes, which helped me decide that our little issue was no big deal.
Sounds productive! I hope that the wonky eye turns out to be nothing serious.
Oh poor girl. I hope Maddie feels better and you don’t have to use your prescription. When Zachariah was about 6 weeks old one of the peds in our office wrote me a prescription while we were there, so I didn’t have to bother going to another doctor. I loved that.
I hope the eye thing is OK. Yes, you’ll always second guess decisions. It’s just natural. I always felt like my mom had it all pulled together when we were little, now I realize all the agonizing decisions that she must have been constantly dealing with.
Shelly - No, I didn’t ask about soy milk because Maddie doesn’t tolerate it very well now that she’s not sick. It seems to give her, well, um, upset tummy.
We’ve been to a ped eye doctor because I thought my son’s (2.5 yrs) eyes were crossing. Turned out to be pseudo eye crossing and now we go every year just to double check. Hopefully it’s nothing!
My friend’s son did have his eyes cross and he’s done the eye patching, glasses, and surgery and now with glasses no more eye crossing…he’s 3 and was diagnosed before he turned 2.
Good luck and lmk if you want to talk to my friend.
If I were local, I would totally switch to a pediatrician who would write me a prescription for ME—and I love our current pediatrician.
Geez, woman. Need someone to help you carry that plateful? Totally awesome about the script. And the Wonky Eye? I know a ton of kids who had them and the situation actually fixed itself. So I’m in that pool for you…
