I’m reading all the comments and realizing my mom knew something when we were kids. (Not that I didn’t think she did, but I didn’t understand why she said this.) She always kept us away from milk when we had an upset tummy. See, my mom, she’s a smart one.

I hope the puking ends soon Erica. If it makes you feel better, I almost never call the pediatrician. So, I would have done the same thing. She’ll be fine.

When Mimi has had a stomach bug, we have always phase in soy milk/formula slowly. We start by watering it down and gradually make it more concentrated. I don’t know what it is, but it seems to be really tough on the digestive tract after a stomach flu.

When Parker got hit by the Vomit Comet, our Peds guy had us keep her off dairy for a week, too. She also had diary for over 3 weeks as an accompaniment. We did zero dairy (soy milk, cheese, etc) for a week and it did make a difference. Something about the virus causes them to become temporarily lactose intolerant and you have to give their system a chance to reboot and get back to normal (which is totally not the scientific explanation, of course).

Thank you for the tip. She threw up her milk this morning, so I’m going to follow your lead and keep her away from the dairy for a while.

Yipes. Sorry to hear this! I hope it’s just a one time thing??

When Zoe last had a stomach flu, we had to keep her off dairy for a week because anytime we tried her back on milk/yogurt/cheese, the barfing would return. Don’t know if that’s what’s happening for you but just a thought.
