Girls’ Weekend
For the first time since she was born, 14 months ago, Maddie and I are spending the weekend alone. Gerald had to go down to help his dad finish up the new roof on their house. If we had all gone in my minivan, it would have cost us $150 in gas. No thank you. So, Gerald went by himself in his fuel efficient car.
Maddie and I are going grocery shopping today and to Good Friday service at church. Tomorrow, I think we’re just going to hang out at home and play. Gerald’s hoping to be home late Saturday night, so we should be together for Easter. We’re going to church and then to my dad and his wife’s for dinner.
P. S. Sadie came home from the vet yesterday. The good news is that her hip wasn’t dislocated. The bad news is that she has SEVERE hip dysplasia. The vet gave us two options. We can spend $60 a month on pain medication for her or spend $350 for surgery to remove the joint. Of course, I chose the surgery. Not only will it be less money in the long run, but it’ll be better for Sadie. She’ll get complete relief from the pain instead of partial relief. (Or even NO relief when I forget to give her a pill because that is completely my M.O.) She goes in for the surgery on Wednesday and should be home Friday or Saturday.
Reading this post, I realize that it’s quite possibly the most boring post EVER. But it’s all I got, kids. Sorry.

Now that Maddie is walking you can force her to hunt eggs! YAY!
Poor Sadie. Our dogs are at high risk for hip dysplasia too because of their breed (s).
poor sadie! I’m worried about that for our dog too since he’s bigger and it’s supposed to be so painful. Hope you have a fun girl’s weekend. HAPPY EASTER!
Have a fun girls’ weekend! Will you be doing mani’s and pedi’s? I’m coming over if you are.
I hope that Sadie’s surgery goes well. My poor doggie has an eye infection right now. Poor things.
Boring or not, I like reading your posts. It feels like a phone call to a friend. (I got to check in on you, if that makes sense.)
I’m glad there’s not something worse wrong with Sadie- hope the surgery is successful and she’s pain-free soon. Have a fun girl’s weekend. I love how you’re being positive about it, instead of whining that you have to be On Duty twenty-four hours a day like I would be doing!
Thank goodness Sadie found you!!! I hope the surgery goes well, please keep us updated!
Tessie - I’m going to force her to eat chocolate, instead. That’s just as good as hunting eggs, right?
Fana - I’m worried about the same thing happening to my Lab when she’s older. At least I’ll have experience with it by that time.
Daisy - I trimmed Maddie’s toenails this morning… does that count as a pedi? : )
SD - I was a little worried about the 24 hr shift, but it’s not like Gerald takes over caring for Maddie when he gets home from work. It’s pretty much my job from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed. (Not that Gerald wouldn’t help if I needed it.)
Shelly - I’m glad she found us, too. Seems like she needs someone to take care of her and make sure the rest of her life is milk and honey. Too bad she didn’t come with a bag of money, tho!
Easter sunday mom-and-daughter. Sounds fabulous.
