Informal Poll #5980934234

Unless you are a Total Skimmer, you know that I’m in the preparation stage for gastric bypass. I should be meeting with the surgeon, nutritionist and psychologist in March, as a matter of fact. Anyhow, there are quite a few things I’d like to blog about in conjunction with the surgery and aftermath, but I’m not sure any of you care about it. I mean, this blog doesn’t advertise itself as a “weight loss surgery” (WLS) blog, so presumably, that’s not what you’re here to read. Or, would you find it interesting nonetheless?

So, my options are to create a new WLS blog, or write about it on this blog. Opinions?

  1. I’d be interested in hearing it if for no other reason than just to hear whassup with you. If you do it on another blog, I’ll just add it to my reader. also - I know you posted yesterday but I wasn’t around much and I wanted to say I MISSED YOU!

  2. I would keep it all in one place and just mark the category of the post. I found that doing two separate blogs tends to burn you out on one or the other. The people that come to read you are reading you. The surgery effects your family and how you react to it. It’s all wrapped up into one.

But again, you might want it separate.

  3. What? WHAT? I can’t wait to hear all about it! You’d better write about it! YOU’D BETTER!

  4. Oh yes! Please write about anything about yourself on YOUR blog! We read you because we want to know about you. If a certain person is not interested that day, they can skim and move on. I just think you should write about whatever you want on your own blog and say tough cookies to anyone who doesn’t like it. Besides, you are way cool so who doesn’t want to know about you! :o)

  5. I would be interested to hear about it. If nothing else, give us a heads-up when you have a new post on the other blog.

  6. I like it as part of your usual blog.

  7. Delurking to say I would be interested to hear about the surgery on this blog. The surgery is a part of your life just as much as anything else about which you write here. ~LA

  8. Eva wrote about her surgery and you KNOW that isn’t what her blog was about. I consider all the blogs that I read regularly friends, even if I don’t know you all. Besides, it’s going to be a HUGE part of your life and I would read about it, no matter where you wrote it.

In my opinion, your blog is about your LIFE. Write what is happening in your life. If that is surgery than write it. No need for 2 blogs.

Besides, on a completely selfish note, it just makes more work for me!

    Love ya,
    grace

  9. Here is good. It’ll be WAY interesting.

  10. I agree with everyone else, keep it here and tell us all about it.

  11. I would love to hear about your journey. No matter how you chose to tell us. I’d add another blog to my reader and visit often, but I wouldn’t be turned off by you posting about it here either. How’s that for an answer. :P I do wish you lots of luck with your surgery preparations.

  12. I don’t understand readers who read blogs for certain topics; I read blogs for the *blogger*, to hear their thoughts, their lives and I get attached and all that so OF COURSE I want to hear all about whatever happens in your life! Looking forward to you sharing your journey! :) :) Very excited for you. :)

  13. I’d say just write about it here. I agree with Amber- we don’t read your blog solely as a mommy blog, we read it to hear about YOU!

  14. You BETTER keep it here. I want to read it!

  15. You should DEFINITELY write about it. It might be nice to have a separate space to write about it in. I am sure all of us would plug another blog of yours right into our readers - I know I would!

  16. I agree, keep it on this blog. I’d love to hear all about it.

  17. Whichever way you’re most comfortable talking about it. It’s your personal blog and what’s more personal than that? But if you’d feel better having it all in one place on another blog I’d go there too.

  18. Thank you all for your comments. I’m going to go ahead and post the WLS-related stuff here. I didn’t really want to start another blog, but I didn’t want to alienate my readers, either. I’m glad y’all are cool with whatever I want to write about.
