Know when to fold ‘em

Gerald and I are off on our “grown ups only” day trip today and while I’m very excited, I’m also a nervous wreck a little anxious. This will be the furthest I’ve ever been from my baby. If something were to happen, we’ll be two whole hours away. But nothing’s going to happen. Right? Right! She’ll be fine.

Something tells me I’m going to be telling myself that a lot today.

  1. She’ll be FINE! Have a great time. I remember feeling that way. We went about 2 hours away for the day when Zachariah was about 5 months old. He stayed with my parents who had been around him a lot, so I felt good about that. Still, it’s hard to leave.

  2. You’ll say you won’t call, then you’ll call anyway, then you’ll feel better, or worse if she was crying in the background when you called, then you’ll feel guilty for leaving, then guilty for mostly talking about her to everyone and Gerald instead of enjoying your “grown up” day, then you’ll rush home with relief.

But it’ll be easier next time. :)

  3. It’ll be fine! And 2 hours is nice and close. Not that you’ll need to be nice and close, because everything will be FINE.

  4. She will have the time of her life. Enjoy these moments! If I’d done that more often when Little Diva was young, I probably would have avoided hundreds of dollars in therapy!!!
