I almost forgot!
The worst part of the trip? On day one of three driving home, Maddie projectile vomited twice in her car seat. Pro-jec-tile, people. That shit was everywhere.
We had to stop at a rest stop for me rinse out her bib, outfit and burp cloth, sponge bathe her and dress her in a clean outfit. Thank God they had a changing table in the bathroom. 98% of the rest stops between here and Cleveland are not at all family friendly. I had to change her in the car and on picnic tables more often than not.
Anyhow, we put down a disposable changing pad in the car seat and drove on. When we stopped for dinner, Gerald carried her into the restaurant and I noticed a trail of vomit dripping out of her seat all the way from the door to our table. I asked the server for a lot of napkins and proceeded to drain it out and clean it up. I don’t think anyone saw me…. although, if you happened to catch a glimpse while in the Cracker Barrel, I’m very sorry for that.
We stopped for the night in Louisville and the hotel had a coin operated washer and dryer but it was $1.50 for each and we had about $.87 in cash. Nice, huh? So, I rinsed out her car seat cover in the frickin’ tub.
When we got home, it smelled like death in the back of my car. Praise Jeebus for Febreeze and Oxyclean, that’s all I’ve got to say.

You have my full sympathy. Also, for anything that can soak in the washer or tub, add baking soda. I didn’t try it for a long time because it seemed like it wouldn’t work, but it really helps. LONG soak, and I go down and agitate the washer for a minute every hour or so, and the smell is gone. Wish I could put our ENTIRE CAR in the washer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We say that all the time.
Sorry about the projectile. I remember when Lucy was very small and I’d just finished feeding her. Newbie Mom Me, I thought it would be fun to toss her up and down in the air a little above me (we were in bed). “Whee! Whee! Whee!” and she was giggling, then she spewed all over my face.
Needless to say, I didn’t do that again, ahahahah.
Sounds like your trip had a little of of the good, the bad, and the ugly!
All in all though, it sounds like the good won out!
Glad you all made it home safely! Now about that vomit…so that was YOU at the Cracker Barrel? I thought you looked familiar!
HUGS!

Yeah, I’ve always said it’s just not a road trip until we’ve had to wash vomit out of a car seat at a truck stop!
