NO MORE!

Why is it that every other news story is about someone hurting a child? Babies in microwaves, vegans starving their child, daycare workers killing toddlers… it’s EVERYWHERE. What Is Going On?

I can’t take anymore. I don’t want to read or hear about one more precious little life snuffed out or horribly damaged anymore. I don’t want to lie in bed at night obsessively recounting these stories and imaging the horror the child must’ve faced, or imaging these awful, awful things happening to my Maddie Boo.

For the love of all that’s good and Holy, how do we get these degenerates to STOP FUCKING HURTING BABIES????

Do we bring back public executions for these people? Stonings? Tarring and feathering? Should we start beating them to death? What will deter them?

I know that I’ve written about love and compassion and tolerance, but I do not have one tiny little ounce of those things in my heart for people that hurt our children. My hypocrisy is overwhelming at times.

  1. Grace, never a hypocrite, I so agree with you. I am totally unable to understand.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.

  2. No, it’s not hypocrisy. I don’t know what it is, but it’s not that. It’s more like there’s a limit to what we should be compassionate and tolerant and loving about, and these things go way out of the bounds of that limit.

  3. It’s not that suddenly more of these things are happening, it’s that you are more sensitized to these stories because of Maddie. Happened to me too; suddenly it was like the whole world was killing/hurting children in the news after I had Lucy. And that was almost 30 years ago so it’s not like it’s new.

It’s not hypocritical to want to stop evil. But there has always been evil and there always will be evil. Stoning, beatings, executions, will not stop evil.

That being said, I’m all for the death penalty. More of it, actually. I have no problem sending a social predator back to “start” or oblivion or whatever happens after we die.

But THAT being said, Jesus was also right when he said to love one another because love is of God and is good and evil is of hate; therefore using evil to erase evil begets more…evil.

So it’s a dilemma for me. Because yeah, Jesus’ teachings fly out the window when I hear about children or anyone/anything helpless being hurt.

I want to throw the first stone.

  4. I hate to say it Erica, but becoming a mom only made me want to stop listening to the news! Nothing but horror….

    Huggs
    Theresa
