365 Days

Swistle, never at a loss for a great topic, has created a new game entitled “A Year Ago Today, A Year From Now.” I have been saving my “one year ago” post for a later in the month, but now’s as good a time as any.

As a side note, three years ago today, I married my wonderful husband…. but, I divorced him promptly and married Gerald. We can’t always pick a winner, right?

I kid, of course. Three years ago, today, I married Gerald. The wonderful Gerald. On the way to work this morning, we talked about how we never would have imagined we’d be here in just three short years. Our very own home, filled with too damn much of our very own crap, and our very own daughter. To quote Will Ferrell in Blades of Glory, “It bottles the mind.”

One year ago, I was getting ready to head to Austin for my very first surprise birthday party (unbeknownst to me at the time, of course). Then we headed to the coast for a week of birthaversary celebration. I got my forth tattoo and Gerald got his first.

On May 26th, I discovered that I was pregnant with a baby that would turn out to have cheeks so large that they’d have their own solar system. Said cheeks and orbiting stars are now almost forth months old.

It bottles the mind.

One year from now, I hope to not be at the workplace any longer. Maddie will be walking and talking… probably talking A LOT and NEVER SHUTTING UP FOR ONE FREAKIN’ MINUTE. I hope we’re living in Austin and seeing family often. I also hope we find some hip parent-type friends to hang out with down there.

That’s all I’m saying about next year, because we all know how much can change in 365 short days.

So, what about you?

  1. Want to hear more about tattoos. I’m always thinking of getting one, but feel nervous. Seems like it might be like having children: the first one is a hurdle, and then it seems easier. I think I would get one if I knew what to CHOOSE.

Love “said cheeks and orbiting stars.”

  2. Erica, nice post, a lot can happen in three years.
Hope that the dream comes true for you.
For me last year was good, next year will be better. I live a quiet retired life.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.

  3. Happy Anniversary to you and Gerald! :)

A year ago today? I have no clue. Probably the same thing I’m doing now; getting my coffee, checking blogs I read and getting ready to start my work day.

A year from now? Probably the same thing, lol! Although I’ll have a new daughter-in-law officially and MAYBE a grandchild on the way! And my daughter will be going crazy because her wedding will be less than a month away.

Hmmm…seems I live mostly through other people, lol!

  4. Ha ha… “Cheeks so large they have their own solar system.” I had that when I was a baby. Our Addy was a skinny little monkey baby, but maybe this next one will get all of mommy’s chub genes!

  5. Happy Aniversary! Wonder where she got them sweet cheeks!

    Huggs
    Theresa
