Death comes on swift wings
May 7th, 2007
I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I saw the faces of loved ones beckoning me toward the pearly gates. Jesus? Is that you???
Ok, not really. But I can honestly say that the stomach virus from which I’m recovering was one of the worst I’ve ever had. It was 24 hours of sheer hell.
(This is the part where you offer me your heartfelt sympathies and condolences.)
Maddie had it all weekend, but luckily, she had a much milder version. Unfortunately, the diarrhea that she had caused some nasty diaper rash. I’m using a prescription anti-fungal and antibiotic cream three times a day and triple paste the rest of the time, but it’s not going away. Any advice?

Erica, that was one hell of a virus, really knocked me for six.
No advice for baby Maddie, but surely someone will have some.
Warm hugs,
Paul.
So sorry you guys were sick, that sucks!
I used to put the kids in cloth diapers when they had rashes; it really helped clear up the rash much faster than if I left them in disposables.
Oh, I’m so sorry you guys got socked with a stomach virus! Those are so awful!
I guess I would call the ped if the rash didn’t look better after a day or two, unless she’s still having diarrhea. I’m wondering if it could be a yeast infection. At the daycare where I worked, it seemed like most of the “not going away” diaper rashes ended up being yeast infections.
We had that virus in our house a couple of weeks ago….sorry to hear you had to deal with it, too.
If you can stand a bit of a (potential) mess, I found that letting Liam “air out” for a while seemed to help with the rash. I put down a plastic garbage bag with a ratty towel over it and let him play nakey style for an hour or so before putting a diaper back on him.
So sorry to hear you were sick. Being sick and having a sick baby is NOT fun!
Hope the rash goes away soon, those are miserable!
HUGS!

Keep with the ointment it will work. With a barrier ointment and antifungal you have all the bases covered.
I am so sorry about the bug! Hope everyone is recovering!
Don’t ever scare me like that again! I am a Hospice nurse….Your opening scared me silly!
Huggs

Thank you all for the heartfelt sympathies and condolences.
Tonight, I let Maddie’s parts flap in the breeze for an hour. I’ll try and do it every night until it’s gone. If it doesn’t clear up by the end of the week, then we’ll make a trip to the pediatrician. Again.
I swear they’re going to think I have Munchausen’s by Proxy.
