Today’s Business

I was going to post a picture of me with my flashy new haircut, but alas, not today. I got home and forgot to ask Gerald to take my picture and then proceeded to vacuum the whole house. Needless to say, my hair isn’t so cute anymore. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Does anyone know at what age a baby stops being “newborn” and moves to “infant?” Inquiring minds want to know.

It’s been between 70 and 80 degrees here all week. I’m not complaining, but it is difficult to find something to wear when your closet is outfitted for FEBRUARY and WINTER and you’re looking for a something short-sleeved. I just put all my summer clothes in the attic about two months ago and now I guess it’s time to bring ‘em all back down. Damnable Texas weather!! *hrmph* On the bright side, I did get Maddie the cutest little summer outfit at Target last night. And it’s not pink! I’m so sick of pink. That’s all she has that she can fit into. Several lovely souls bought her cute purple and blue outfits, but they’re in the next size up. Good side = She has lots of cute things to grow into. Bad side = Everything she can wear now is freakin’ pink. Barbie would vomit at this level of pink, people. It’s bad.

Wish us luck at Maddie’s pediatrician appointment tomorrow. I’d better hear the words “ear infection” and “gone” in the same sentence. Oh, yeah… without the word “isn’t” in there at all.

Speaking of appointments, mine went well yesterday. I officially weigh three pounds less than I did when I got pregnant. Not too shabby, huh? I hope to continue the trend and lose even more.

Maddie did SuperUltraMega well at church last night. She woke up on the last hymn for some grub. I fed her in the pew and then she was held, kissed and squeezed within an inch of her life by the church ladies and her Granny. It was great : ) Let’s just hope she does half as well for her christening in two weeks.

  1. This has no basis in science or knowledge of any kind, but I think of the newborn phase as ending around 5 weeks or so. There’s a point where they stop seeming like the mewling, still-curled, frog-legged, funny critters they were when they were first born, and that’s when I think of them as Now Exiting Newbornhood. On the other hand, I think more broadly of any baby in the first few months as a newborn. (Do I have to know an answer to contribute one? Apparently not.)

  2. Yeah, I was gonna say six weeks. After that, they start to make a lot more expressions, seem to have more of a personality, etc.
On a different note, way to go on the weight loss! Holy crap, at my first postpartum appointment I still weighed at least ten pounds OVER my prebaby weight. Nice work!

  3. Erica, I’d say about eighteen if you are lucky. WEG
    There’s a cheerful thought.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.

  4. Listen to me…visit my blog. There can never be too much pink! It will only serve to make her a happy girl. Even if she grows to not like it…she will have pink blessings forever!

I am not happy with Southern weather either. I am so happy about your pregnancy weight loss! Go Erica!

    Huggs
    Theresa
