God Bless Modern Medicine

We went back to the dr today. He says my leaky incision is doing very well. No signs of infection at all. I’m supposed to continue to encourage it to drain. Say it with me people: “Eeewww.” Yes, it is exactly as gross as it sounds. He also gave me prescriptions for antibiotics (one that I’m not allergic to, thank you very much) and a cough syrup with Vicodin in it. As God as my witness, I’m going to sleep tonight…. for three hours at a time, that is.

Maddie had her first ER visit last night. She’s got a cough and her pediatrician said to take her in right away. We waited for four hours only to have our little hypochondriac stop coughing. The dr checked her all out and pronounced her lungs clear and everything else as it should be. She has an appointment with her pediatrician on Wednesday, so we’ll have it all checked out again.

OH! They weighed her at the ER and she’s now 8lbs, 7oz. In 11 days, she gained 1lb, 11oz. That’s my fattie Maddie! I guess momma’s milk really is a super food.

I had a bad breakdown this morning, but Gerald talked me down off the ledge. This parenthood thing ain’t for sissies, I can tell you that much. It takes a very strong person to go day in and day out without any sleep and barely enough food. Sometimes, it feels like I can’t possibly go on one more freakin’ minute. But then, Gerald or his mom will step in and things turn around. I guess that’s just how it’s going to be for a while. Thank you all so much for you kind words and encouragement. You’re all a lifeline for me and I really appreciate that you take time out of your busy lives to reach out to me. Oh dear lord…. I’m gonna cry. Damn hormones.
