This is way harder than it looks on TV

The recovery from my c-section is much more difficult than I anticipated. I’m having a few complications and set-backs that are keeping me from feeling very good.

Maddie is doing great. She’s got her days and nights mixed up, but Gerald and I are learning to sleep when she sleeps. That’s a lot harder than it sounds, folks.

I’ll be back within a week, I imagine. I’m hoping that two weeks is all I need to heal and be back on track.

Thank you all for your kind words and congratulations. I feel so loved!

Here’s some gratuitous baby for you.

  1. Hay Erica, great to hear from you, hope that you will feel better soon.
Thanks for the sweet baby picture.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.

  2. Oh my gosh! She is so pretty in pink! C Section’s can be a little rough. Take it easy. You’ll be feeling better in no time!

    Healing Huggs!

  3. My GOD, what a beautiful baby! I’m not kidding. Thank you for posting that!

Sorry to hear the healing is going by so slowly for you, ick, ack and all manner of sympathetic energy your way. {{{hugs}}} May this healing time go by quickly for you.

  4. Beautiful, Beautiful baby!! And so smart too. She is supposed to have her days and night backwards - babies do that.

And to leap right in with unsolicited advice. I think they sleep better in the day time because their is noise, music, talking, tv. Mine slept better when I left a radio on in their room.

But really can you believe that whole wonderful little person came from you!

    Hugs,
    Elis

  5. She’s a beautiful baby, Erica.

  7. She is even more beautiful than I remembered! I hope you are feeling better soon Erica!! Oh, and Gerald…we are doing fine without you at work so take all the time you need…NOT…we miss you!

Take care you two…the best is yet to come!

    love you both!!

  8. Oh Erica she is so adorable and gets more so every day!! Just ignore those paranoias about sleeping w/ her in the bed, it’s just those “experts” don’t want you to roll over on her or forget she’s there but how can you? Those moments are precious and love on her with all your heart!

Tip on getting more sleep: change her before feeding her that way she’ll be happy little bundles when she’s done eating & burping, then just fall happily asleep with her on the couch. It’s so great to hear you and her are doing better, and your Gerald is doing so much to take care of his girls. Enjoy them, and keep being the good momma you are! :-)
