Whew!
What a week! On top of Thanksgiving, Gerald decided to clean the house top to bottom. He removed furniture, scrubbed baseboards and wainscoting, vacuumed, steam-cleaned carpet and tile. It was exhausting to watch! This house hasn’t been so clean since we moved in two years ago. As I sat, reading a book and watching him scrub the floor by hand, I announced, “I’ve done a lot of bad things in my life, but I must’ve done something right to end up with a husband on his ass scrubbing my kitchen floor.” Needless to say, he wasn’t as amused as I was : )
Thanksgiving went off without a hitch. We did remarkably well for two people who have never made Thanksgiving dinner in their lives. My pride and joy was the pumpkin pies. The recipe said it was for one pie, but there was enough filling for two. They looked like cookbook pictures! Even better, they taste good, too. After dinner, I got to lie down and take a nap while Gerald packed up the leftovers and loaded the dishwasher. All in all, it was the least stressful holiday I’ve ever had.
This week will be spent on actual bed rest. Not surprisingly, I don’t do bed rest really well when Gerald’s home. I spent most of the time in the living room and I did things I probably ought not have done. So, I will repent this week and stay in the bed. I need to be in tip-top shape for my shower on Saturday, after all.
